Part of our Sport, TV Guide & Picture Quality series. Follow the sporting year, use the programme guide and catch-up, and get the best picture on Aero IPTV.
Basketball is the opposite problem to boxing or Formula 1: there is no shortage of games. Thirty teams play 82 games each between late October and mid-April, there is a mid-season cup tournament, and the playoffs run into June. For anyone outside North America, nearly all of it tips off in the evening US time, which means late nights or early mornings. This guide explains how to watch NBA games live online in 2026/27 and how to make that schedule work for you.
We cover the season calendar, tip-off times in different time zones, the official broadcasters in the US and abroad, and a setup for following the NBA with Aero IPTV, including how to make the most of catch-up. It is part of our sports series; see the guide to watching sport on Aero IPTV for the rest of the year.

NBA tip-off times around the world
Most games tip off between 19:00 and 22:30 US Eastern time. Here is what that means where you are:
| US Eastern | UK | Central Europe | Gulf (GST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19:00 | 00:00 | 01:00 | 04:00 |
| 19:30 | 00:30 | 01:30 | 04:30 |
| 22:00 | 03:00 | 04:00 | 07:00 |
| 15:30 (weekend) | 20:30 | 21:30 | 00:30 |
The weekend afternoon games, especially on Saturdays and Sundays later in the season, are the best chance to watch live from Europe in the evening. Christmas Day also has a full slate of games, several of them at friendly times for European viewers.
Official NBA broadcasters
In the United States
From the 2025/26 season the NBA's national games are split between three partners. At the time of writing:
| Games | Official broadcaster(s) |
|---|---|
| National games and the Finals | ESPN and ABC |
| National games | NBC and Peacock |
| National games and the NBA Cup knockouts | Amazon Prime Video |
| Local team games | Regional sports networks and team streaming services |
| Out-of-market games | NBA League Pass |
Outside the United States
In many countries, the NBA's own subscription service, NBA League Pass, carries live games, and some countries also have local broadcasters. Availability and pricing vary by country, so check the official NBA listings where you live. League Pass also offers condensed games and replays, which suit late tip-offs.
For guaranteed coverage of your team, the official services are the dependable route. Aero IPTV channel line-ups change over time and, as our terms explain, no specific channel or competition can be guaranteed, so check your own line-up. This guide does not cover ways around regional or blackout restrictions.
Following the NBA on Aero IPTV
Set up once at the start of the season
- Make a basketball favourites group with the channels you use for NBA games.
- Set the programme guide to your local time so tip-offs appear when they really start for you. The EPG and catch-up guide explains how.
- Search the guide by team name rather than scrolling channels, especially for games on channels you do not usually watch.
- Set reminders for the weekend afternoon games you want to see live.
Make late games work with catch-up
For most viewers outside the Americas, catch-up is the key feature for the NBA. On channels that support it, you can start last night's game from the beginning the next morning. Turn off score notifications on your phone before you go to bed; the result is otherwise the first thing you will see. If you prefer a shorter watch, official condensed games cover a full game in a fraction of the time.
Getting the best basketball picture
- Fast cuts and quick ball movement show up any stutter, so a steady FHD picture usually beats an unsteady 4K one.
- Match the frame rate. US broadcasts are generally 60 frames per second; on Firestick, turn on Match Original Frame Rate.
- Use a wired connection for the main TV, particularly for the big playoff games when demand peaks.
- Keep an HD fallback of your main channel in favourites.
Our Aero IPTV 4K and quality guide explains how to choose the right quality for your connection and screen.
Playoff season: two games, two screens
In the first round of the playoffs there are often four games a day, and two can overlap. If people in your home follow different teams, a plan with two connections lets each game play on its own screen. The Aero IPTV connections guide explains the cost of an extra connection and the bandwidth two streams need: roughly 30 Mbps for two HD streams.
Common problems and quick fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | Quick fix |
|---|---|---|
| Game listed at the wrong time | Guide time zone or daylight-saving gap | Adjust the guide time zone or offset |
| Catch-up not available | Channel does not support it | Use official condensed games or highlights |
| Stutter on fast breaks | Wi-Fi or frame-rate mismatch | Cable, HD fallback, frame-rate matching |
| 'Maximum connections reached' | Another stream still playing | Close other players fully |

How the NBA Cup works
The NBA Cup is a tournament played inside the regular season. In November, teams are drawn into groups within their conference and play four group games on designated Cup nights; those games also count in the regular-season standings. The six group winners and two wild cards go through to a knockout stage in December: quarter-finals at team arenas, then semi-finals and a final at a neutral venue in Las Vegas. The final itself does not count towards the regular-season record.
For viewers, Cup nights bring a cluster of meaningful games early in the season. Search your guide for the Cup schedule in November and set reminders for your team's group games.
The play-in tournament explained
Before the playoffs, the teams finishing 7th to 10th in each conference play a short play-in tournament. Seventh plays eighth, and the winner takes the seventh playoff seed. The loser then plays the winner of ninth against tenth for the eighth and final seed. It means a team finishing as low as tenth can still reach the playoffs, and the play-in games are single, winner-takes-all nights worth watching live.
From there, sixteen teams play four best-of-seven rounds, with the conference champions meeting in the NBA Finals in June. A 12-month Aero IPTV plan covers the whole season from tip-off to the Finals; compare options on the pricing page.
Basketball does not stop when the NBA Finals end. The WNBA season runs from May into the autumn, filling the summer months, and international basketball, including European club competitions and national-team tournaments, keeps fans busy through the rest of the year. Add a separate favourites group for each competition you follow.
